Dubai Metro to roll tonight

Dubai: With the launching of the first Metro in the Gulf region, Dubai has achieved a never before attempted milestone - the world's longest automated driverless train system built in just four years.
The Metro is set to provide transport coverage and reach all strategic areas of the city, and develop the network to branch out into the suburbs with future extensions including Al Sufouh Tram which will be ready in 2011. The future lines under study are the Purple and Blue Lines to extend the network.
The Metro will be a catalyst for the improvement of real estate values, economic development and urban regeneration along its main route and arteries. It will create an additional source of employment for both the local population as well as the region in addition to boosting the tourism sector.
Studies show that the Metro will reduce traffic congestion by 17 per cent out of a total of 30-35 per cent, which is aimed to be reduced by an integrated public transport network including buses and water transport.
As part of its modernity drive, vision and concerns for the environment due to rapid development, the Dubai government commissioned studies to determine the most efficient and cost-effective solutions to traffic congestion, which resulted in the birth of the Metro.

Eye make-up

Eye-liner: If you have Asian eyes, apply light eye shadows on your eyelids. Use a pencil to make a thick smoky line along upper eyelashes (the line should be thick enough to be seen well when your eyes are open). Under the lower eyelashes draw a thinner line.
Eye-shadow: Don’t attempt to draw a line above your natural crease with a dark color. Instead, try to create the illusion of eyelids by applying bright shimmery eye shadow on and above the crease. It should occupy about one third of the space between your lashes and your eyebrows. In order to make your eyes visually wider apply brown eye shadow on your eyebrows.
Mascara: Cover your eyelashes with two or three layers of dense mascara.

Bread can be used as contraceptives

Some women believe bread, cling film and chicken skin can be used as contraceptive, a poll by a healthcare giant has revealed

The survey of 1,000 women aged 18 to 50 unearthed a number of misconceptions about family planning.
One in five detailed bizarre methods of contraception including eating garlic or using bread, plastic wrap or chicken skin as a barrier method.
The poll, carried out by Opinion Health for drug manufacturer Bayer Schering Pharma, also found a number of misunderstandings about the contraceptive pill.
Half of those surveyed wrongly thought that taking the pill long term could cause infertility, and 10% said that it would always take a number of years to regain fertility after coming off the medication.
More than a third thought that the greatest risk of getting pregnant while taking the combined contraceptive pill occurred in the middle of a pack, when in fact it is at the beginning and end.
The combined pill contains oestrogen and progestogen.
Dr Annie Evans, Women's Health Specialist at the Bristol Sexual Health Centre, said: "It is not surprising that this survey has uncovered how widespread contraceptive myths still are in this country, given that Britain continues to have the highest unintended pregnancy rate in Europe, with as many as 50% of births being unintended.
"It is vital that women are made aware of the facts, using the credible sources of information available to them."

Facial Massage

The frequency of massaging should be appropriate for the skin’s condition. Those who fear skin problems may continue a gentle, effective treatment on a daily basis, limiting the time to short
periods. For those who do not routinely massage their skin, massage every 3-4 days with a massage product.
1. Facial massage is a self-exercise for your skin.
2. Working deeply within the skin, it cleanses the embedded particles,
3. Improves blood circulation and relieves stress.
4. Improves the skin renewal.
5. It opens the pores and removing unwanted particles from the skin.
6. Facial massage results in fair and smooth skin. The skin’s elasticity also replenishes. It becomes more translucent and it has a healthy glow.

Waxing or Shaving

We are usually faced with the question – is it better to wax or shave?
For years we believed the myth that shaving makes his hair come back thicker and darker. When you are shaving you are only taking off the top of the hair but the hair growth is actually from the root, so I believe that there’s no way that actual hair grows back any quicker or faster by shaving it. Usually our normal hair is long and thus can move and feels smooth – it’s very flexible, but when it’s just coming out the follicle it’s much shorter, it’s not flexible at all, you can hardly move it and therefore if you put your hand across the hairs it does feel that much coarser. Shaving is the same as waxing – your hair won’t grow back thicker either way. But waxing does keep your skin feeling smoother longer, because you pull out the root, and it can take up to three months before the new hair comes through.

Orange Marmalade

Ingredients: 8 whole oranges, thinly sliced; 3 whole lemons, thinly sliced; 4 cups of orange juice; 4 cups of dry, granulated sugar and Pectin

Method: Using a peeler remove only the colored part of the peeland set it aside. Slice the oranges and lemons in half across the segments. The tough, white part in the center must be cut out and discarded. Slice the two halves into thin slices. Chop the slices up a bit!
Remove and discard any seeds or tough parts of the orange that you find in the process. Mix the dry pectin with about 1/4 cup of sugar. Stir the pectin into the chopped fruit. Put the mix in a big pot and set aside for a moment. Mix the peels in 2 cups of the original 4 cups of water or orange juice and 1/8 teaspoon of baking soda in a saucepan. Bring the mix to a boil. Cover it, turn down the heat and let it simmer for 20 minutes. Add the chopped fruit, the remaining 2 cups of juice and simmer for 10 minutes more. Add the sugar and bring the mixture back to a full boil. Stir the mix and bring it to a full boil, hard, for one minute. And store in a jar.

Do’s don’ts of facial massage

  • Use your entire palm when massaging a wide area.
  • Use generous amounts of massage cream, especially for those who have dry skin.
  • In the direction of facial curves, massaging should be done in a rhythm of inner to outer otions

  • Don’t take small amount of cream. If too little massage cream is applied, the hands will not glide over the skin, creating excessive stimulation.
  • Don’t use just your finger. When using just your finger, the skin suffers too much stimulation.
  • Don’t massage in irregular directions. If you do not massage
in the direction of facial curves, wrinkles can be formed.
  • Don’t go for excessive massage. Excessive massaging
    can over stimulate the skin
